New York Magazine Cover Photo Of Christine Quinn Generating Buzz

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- City Council speaker and mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn unveiled a new look this week and the updated style has a lot of New Yorkers buzzing.

Quinn's picture debuted on the cover New York Magazine's February issue. In it, she's wearing a black outfit with a raised collar.

"At first glance, I didn't realize it was her," celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch told the New York Post.

The magazine's editorial and visual team told the Post they wanted to show Quinn in a new light as "completely transformed and very glamorous."

A Quinnipiac University poll released last week found Quinn would win the Democratic mayoral primary and then beat Republican mayoral candidate and former MTA chairman Joseph Lhota in the general election.

Other contenders in the Democratic field include New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, who announced his candidacy for mayor on Sunday.

Quinn told New York Magazine, "I think whoever the next mayor is will do things differently because they are different people and they come from a different place."
