NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Mets hope 40-year-old LaTroy Hawkins can add some depth to their bullpen.
The team announced Thursday they have signed the veteran right-hander to a minor league contract.
The deal comes with an invitation to spring training.
Hawkins has gone 65-88 with a 4.45 ERA in 18 seasons. He had a 3.64 ERA in 42 innings for the Los Angeles Angels in 2012.
The Mets are still in the market for additional bullpen help, according to WFAN and CBSSports.com baseball insider Jon Heyman.
