Man Killed, Woman Injured After Being Hit By Car On Staten Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 72-year-old man was killed, and a 64-year-old woman was injured, when a car slammed into them as they crossed a street in Staten Island this week.
The pair was walking across Jefferson Avenue from north to south upon being struck by a gray Nissan Armada, police said.
The vehicle was headed north on Mason Avenue and made a left turn onto Jefferson Avenue, when the driver slammed into the victims, police said.
Both victims were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital. The man – Hasimja Bujar of Staten Island – was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the woman's condition was reported as stable.
The driver who hit the pair remained on the scene, and no charges were expected.
