Local Fans Struggle To Pick Which Team To Root For In Super Bowl

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - With no local team in this year's Super Bowl, New York Jets and Giants fans told WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs they're having a hard time deciding who to root for.

The fans Xirinachs spoke to seemed split between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.

"The Ravens," said Charlie the Giants fan. "They're on the east coast."

Pat the Jets fan said he's not rooting for anyone, but he'll enjoy the day.

"I say it's a wonder they didn't make it a holiday, a national holiday," he told Xirinachs.

Pat added he's looking forward to the commercials.

And Charlie the Giants fan said despite not having his team going for the trophy, he'll still enjoy the game.

"Everybody has fun, actually. You eat there, you have a few drinks, a few beers and you have a good time," he told Xirinachs.

"It's a lot of fun, good time. Get together with friends, good time," one football fan told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria.

For football fans of all stripes, whether die-hards or fairweather, Super Bowl Sunday is a party everyone can get behind, D'Auria reported.

Even as local fans struggle to figure out which team to root on, everyone seems to be behind a good party with good snacks.

"Guacamole is my specialty, my homemade specialty. Ten ingredients, a lot of spice," an indifferent fan said.

One man told D'Auria that even though just watching the game at home with his wife and daughter, there will still be a spread.

"Ribs, rice, peas and a lot of chips and salsa," he said.
