Boy, 8, Killed In Fire In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An 8-year-old boy was killed early Saturday when a fire broke out at his home in the Flatbush-Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn.

Police and firefighters were dispatched to 2765 Bedford Ave. at 2:51 a.m. for a fire. When firefighters put out the blaze, they found the 8-year-old boy unconscious and unresponsive.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The New York City Medical Examiner's office must conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death for the boy, but police said it did not appear suspicious.

The Fire Marshal was investigating the cause of the fire Saturday morning.

A fire early Saturday also killed an 8-year-old boy in Hempstead in Nassau County.
