Beach Boys fans had to wait decades for The Smile Sessions box set to be released. Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, along with compilation co-producers Alan Boyd, Mark Linett and Dennis Wolfe and mastering engineer Mark Linett put a lot of work into realizing Wilson’s original vision. And today, they were awarded with a GRAMMY for Best Historical Album. It’s only Wilson’s second GRAMMY award – his first was for “Mrs. O’Leary’s Cow,” which won the 2004 Best Rock Instrumental Performance.
Wilson accepted the award with a brief speech, thanking the Academy.
