Report: Forest Whitaker Says He Was Wrongly Accused Of Shoplifting In Deli

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whittaker said in a published report that he was wrongly accused of shoplifting at a deli on the Upper West Side.

A spokesman for the actor told TMZ the incident happened Friday at the Milano Market, on Broadway between 111th and 112th streets.

An eyewitness told the publication Whitaker was frisked in plain view of everyone.

A spokesman for the actor told the publication that Whitaker did not call police after being falsely accused, because he apparently did not want the employee who frisked him to get fired.

Instead, Whitaker asked that the store change the way it handles such situations in the future, the publication reported.
