Police Identify Suspect In Death Of Staten Island Mom Killed In Turkey
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Turkey said they have identified a suspect in the murder investigation of a Staten Island woman.
Police are looking for the man, identified only as Ziya T., in a southern Turkish province where they believe he has family.
Sarai Sierra disappeared last month while on a solo trip to Istanbul.
The mother of two was found beaten to death in Istanbul 12 days after she went missing. Police said Sierra had suffered a fatal blow to the head. She also had been stabbed.
The 33-year-old traveled to Turkey alone on Jan. 7 to explore her passion for photography. She also made a side trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Munich, Germany. It was her first trip outside of the United States.
More than a dozen people have been questioned in the case.
So far, there have been no arrests. The FBI is assisting in the investigation.
