Fire Breaks Out At Factory In Hoboken

HOBOKEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- An extra-alarm fire broke out Tuesday evening at a pump valve factory in Hoboken.

The fire broke out at the building at 1314 Park Ave. Sims Pump Valve Company is located at the address.

A representative of the nearby Malibu Diner, which is adjacent to the factory, told WCBS 880 the fire evacuated the entire block.

A fire also broke out at the Sims Pump Valve Company factory in 2008. That fire started in a dust collector, but did not spread throughout the building, according to published reports.

There were no reports of injuries in Tuesday night's fire.

Sims has been at the site in Hoboken since 1952. The company manufactures composite marine pumps, and also does manufacturing for the U.S. Navy, according to an NJ.com report.
