Report: Pick-Rich 49ers 'Poised' To Make Run At Revis Trade

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The San Francisco 49ers are "poised to make a run" at trading for Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The 49ers are one of "a handful of teams" that have talked about making a push for Revis, even if he's just a one-season rental, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The Niners are flush with picks already in the double digits for the upcoming draft, and should land one more with quarterback Alex Smith headed to Kansas City in a trade with the Chiefs.

One NFC general manager told the New York Post that it's "kind of a no-brainer for everyone involved."

"San Francisco has more picks than they know what to do with, and the Jets have a lot of holes they could address really quick with those picks," the GM told the paper.

LANTERN: Time for a Niners-Seahawks bidding war

Reports that the Jets would attempt to trade Revis emerged last month on the eve of general manager John Idzik's introductory press conference, leading the four-time Pro Bowl cornerback to express his frustration on Twitter.

Idzik reportedly shopped Revis to several teams -- discussions believed to be at the behest of owner Woody Johnson -- at the combine in Indianapolis, with coach Rex Ryan and the rest of the organization "out of the loop," the New York Daily News reported Wednesday.

According to the Post, the Jets have indeed "been shopping Revis for several weeks and stepped up their sales presentation" in Indy.

Compare those reports to what Idzik said Thursday from the combine: "With respect to Darrelle, we have always wanted him to be a part of the New York Jets."

KEIDEL: Down with Darrelle?

Revis — widely considered the NFL's top cornerback and the Jets' best player — has been rehabbing from a torn ACL suffered early in the 2012 season.

The final year of his contract in 2013 reportedly carries a $9 million cap hit. The 27-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season if he doesn't skip any mandatory team activities.
