NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — Two people were hurt when a car slammed into a building at the corner of 8th Ave and 51st Street on Saturday, the New York Post reported.

A deli worker was taken to New York Presbyterian Hospital with serious injuries, shortly after 6 p.m., the driver of the vehicle was taken to Roosevelt Hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom, and said the damage could have been a lot worse if more people had been on the street.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
