Tween Beauty Mogul Launched Successful Skincare Line With Mom By Her Side

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Willa Doss turned a simple idea into a thriving business.

Her skincare line for kids is sold at major stores in America and abroad.

The idea came to Willa in 2008, when, during bath time, she asked her mom why she had to use her younger sister's babyish products or her mom's grown-up beauty aids.

"I thought, 'Why isn't there anything for me?'" Willa said. "Right now is the most important time for us to be taking care of our skin."

When Willa approached her mother about the issue, mom's first reaction was "let's go buy something."

"I wasn't looking to start a business with my daughter," Christy Prunier said.

It wasn't so easy.

"We looked everywhere, there was nothing," Willa said. "Everything was pink, sparkly bubblegum."

So they set out to do it themselves. The products are now sold at popular places like J.Crew and Target -- and across the pond at Harrod's.

"It's really exciting and fun to hear from girls when they e-mail me through the business to tell me they're using it and like it," Willa said.
