WAYNE, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Police are investigating the death of a New Jersey woman whose body was found in a creek at the bottom of a gorge in Pennsylvania.

The body of 56-year-old Gail Dews, of Wayne, N.J. was found Monday morning at the base of the gorge at Shohola Falls below a hiking trail.

"Her husband had called to report her missing, but I don't have the circumstances about how she actually disappeared," Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Connie Devens told 1010 WINS' Steve Sandberg.

Police don't know how Dews died. Her death is being considered suspicious.

Authorities are questioning her husband and other family members in hopes of unraveling the mystery, Sandberg reported.

"We don't have any suspects at this time; we don't know if we have a crime at this time; we don't know the cause of her death, how she came to be in the location that she was found," Devens said.

An autopsy will be performed.
