Report: Connecticut Man Charged In Tragic Death Of Garden State Parkway Good Samaritan

LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- State police say a good Samaritan who was helping another driver move a disabled vehicle off the Garden State Parkway was killed when he was struck by another car.

Authorities say 26-year-old Eric Hernandez of New London, Conn. was driving under the influence of drugs when he hit 34-year-old Anibal Espinoza of North Plainfield. He's charged with causing death or injury while driving unlicensed, and his passenger faces drug charges.

Authorities say icy conditions caused a driver to spin out Saturday afternoon on the highway in Lacey Township. Four men in a van, including Espinoza, stopped to help the driver push her car to a safer location.

Hernandez's car the spun out and hit Espinoza.

The driver of the first car and the three other men all suffered minor injuries.
