AMITYVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A 17-year-old high school student has been arrested and charged after police said she left a bomb threat inside Amityville High School.

According to Suffolk County Police, the female student, who has not been identified, left a note threatening to blow up the school. School officials notified police around 8:50 Monday morning after the note was found in a stairwell.

Once police determined the teen’s identity, she was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, which is a felony.

The North Amityville teen is due to be arraigned on Tuesday at First District Court in Central Islip, according to police.
