In the aftermath of Sandy, the Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund was set up to help individuals and businesses. In the months since the storm, more than a million dollars has been raised.
“We try to take care of each other,” Mayor Dawn Zimmer told WCBS 880’s Alex Silverman. “That spirit is what I think makes Hoboken so very special.”
Of the 500 individuals and businesses that have applied for grants, almost every one will get a check for around $2,000. The checks will be mailed out this week, Zimmer said.
“This is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” she told Silverman.
