Police: Men Stole From Bronx Clothing Store, Attacked Staffer

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Monday were asking for help from the public in finding two suspects who shoplifted from a Bronx clothing store and attacked an employee in broad daylight this past weekend.

The suspects walked into the Jallow Clothing and Electronics store at 1122 Westchester Ave., in the Foxhurst section of the Bronx. They took several pairs of jeans and several hats, and attempted to walk out without paying a single cent, police said.

A 34-year-old man who worked at the store tried to stop the shoplifters, but the men attacked him and left with the stolen items, police said.

The man refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

The suspects were described as about 40 years old – one weighing about 150 pounds, the other about 160 pounds.

Police have released a surveillance photo and video of the suspects.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS, submit tips to the Crime Stoppers Web site, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
