Man Charged With Robbing, Sucker Punching Man At Times Square Subway Station
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A 31-year-old homeless man has been arrested and charged with robbing and sucker punching a man at the 42nd Street-Times Square subway station earlier this week.
Leonard Johnson was charged Tuesday evening with robbery, police said.
The victim was standing on the mezzanine level inside the station when the suspect approached him and started talking to him. After spending about two seconds talking to his victim, the mugger looks over his shoulder. Then he winds up and slugs the victim in the face, as seen on video.
The victim, 35, fell to the ground, and suffered minor injuries, police said. The mugger grabbed his cell phone and ran onto the No. 1 train platform, police said.
Police have not revealed how Johnson was apprehended.
