Police: Man Punched, Sexually Assaulted Woman In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a man wanted for sexually assaulting a woman in the Bronx.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday near Westchester Avenue.

Police said the suspect came up behind a 27-year-old woman, pushed her to the ground and then repeatedly punched her in the face before sexually assaulting her.

The suspect then fled the scene.

The victim sustained bruises and contusions in the incident, police said.

The suspect is believed to be between 25- and 30 years old, approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall with a thin build, police said.

He was wearing a ski mask, gray jacket and white sneakers.

Police have released surveillance video which shows the suspect without the ski mask.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
