Police: Man Charged With Four Sex Assaults In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with four violent sex assaults in the Bronx dating back to late February.

Miguel Lopez, of the Bronx, faces several charges, including rape, attempted rape, aggravated sexual abuse, robbery and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

In each incident, police said the suspect approached his victims from behind, punched them repeatedly and then sexually assaulted them before fleeing. In one case, Lopez allegedly threatened his victim with a box cutter, police said.

In the most recent attack, Lopez followed a 40-year-old woman and 49-year-old man into a building in Bedford Park shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday. He robbed them of cash at knifepoint before following the woman to her apartment where he forced his way inside and raped her, police said.

The other victims were in their 20s.
