Crowds Line Fifth Avenue For Annual Greek Independence Day Parade

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - New York's annual Greek Independence Day Parade hit Fifth Avenue Sunday.

The National Greek Parade stepped off at Fifth Avenue and 64th Street and continued its march up to 79th Street.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg was among the dignitaries who participated in the parade.

As is tradition, a contingent of colorfully uniformed Evzones of the Presidential Guard opened the parade.

This year's parade celebrates Greece's 192nd anniversary of independence in 1821.
