HARTFORD, Vt. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A teenager from Northern New Jersey was being held in Vermont Tuesday, on charges that he sexually assaulted a woman.
Rafael Jaquez, 18, of North Bergen, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Superior Court in Vermont to two counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of cocaine possession. He was ordered held on $275,000 bail.
The Rutland Herald reported that a 23-year-old Springfield, Vt., woman told police she was assaulted last weekend after being lured to a Springfield apartment and drugged. Officials say she was held against her will by a group of teenagers known as the “Jersey boys,” who police say are affiliated with a New Jersey gang.
Jaquez was also charged with cocaine possession after police say they found an energy drink can with a hidden compartment containing drugs.
Two other teens from New Jersey – Daniel “DeeJay” Morales, 17, and Matthew “Money Matt” Frangos, 16 — also face heroin trafficking charges, the newspaper reported.
