Superstorm Sandy

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The Queens-bound tube of the Queens-Midtown Tunnel remains closed Sunday for repairs related to superstorm Sandy.

Traffic continues to go both ways in the remaining tube, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

Trucks are not allowed in the tunnel when two-way traffic is in effect.

One tube of the tunnel was shut down at 2 a.m. on Saturday and will reopen on Monday at 5 a.m. The same closure will take effect again next weekend so repairs can be made.

The MTA warns delays should be expected during the disruption.

During Sandy, the tunnel took on millions of gallons of sea water.
