Oops! Typo Pushes 69th Street Construction Into Next Millennium
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It may feel like the construction along Second Avenue has been going on for years, especially for residents of the Upper East Side.
But a sign posted at 69th Street and Second Avenue as of Sunday evening may be overstating a completion goal of one project just a bit.
The sign was posted to let drivers know about a road closure of 69th Street. Only problem? A typo on the sign announced the closures on March 30-31 and April 6-7 of 3013.
Long-suffering residents in the area may take heart in knowing the first phase of the $4.45 billion Second Avenue Subway project, running from 96th Street to 63rd Street, is slated to open at the end of 2016.
According to the MTA, the first phase will serve approximately 200,000 riders a day.
