Woman Charged In Shooting That Killed Man In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A woman has been charged with shooting and killing a man in a building near Bronx Park.

Thea Gurley, 43, was charged Tuesday in the March 31 shooting that killed Craig Brewington, 28.

Brewington was found early that morning inside the apartment building where Gurley lived in the 2800 block of Barker Avenue in the Bronx, police said.

According to authorities, Brewington had a gunshot wound to the throat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was found in a first floor stairwell, according to a published report.

Brewington had supposedly been in the building collecting money from a friend when the shooting happened.

He was described by family members as a devoted father to his 2-year-old daughter, the New York Post reported at the time.

Gurley was charged with murder, manslaughter, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Further details of the shooting were not immediately available.
