Police: Thieves Stole Electronics, Stuffed Them In Filing Cabinet They Bought At Target

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday said they were searching for three women who stole electronics from a Target store on Staten Island, and concealed their theft by stuffing the items in a file cabinet that they legitimately bought.

The women, described as being between the ages of 25 and 30, walked into the Target store at 2900 Veterans Road West on Staten Island, police said.

They opened a box containing a filing cabinet, took the cabinet out, and stuffed the electronics picked out inside, police said. They then headed to the cash register and paid for the filing cabinet, but made off without paying a cent for the electronics, police said.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspects.

Anyone with information on the thefts was asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, submit tips to the Crime Stoppers Web site, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
