NORTH MERRICK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A grand jury has indicted a Long Island man in connection with a crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway that left two men dead.

Robert Beodeker, 50, was arraigned Thursday on aggravated vehicular homicide and other charges.

Beodeker was initially charged with reckless driving and driving with a suspended license after the March 4 crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

Police said Beodeker’s pickup truck slammed into two men working on their disabled vehicle just south of the Southern State Parkway. The victims were thrown several feet by the impact.

Additional charges were later added, including vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and driving while impaired by drugs, among others.

Prosecutors said Beodeker had methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system at the time of the crash.

Beodeker is being held on $1 million bond or $500,000 cash bail. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted and is due back in court April 30.
