Cops Seek Suspect In Series Of Brooklyn Rapes
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a series of rapes in the Canarsie and Crown Heights neighborhoods of Brooklyn.
The suspect approaches his victims and engages them in conversation before luring them to an isolated location and raping them, according to police.
The first incident occurred on April 4, when the man approached a 25-year-old woman near the intersection of Albany Avenue and Fenimore street, lured her to a parking lot and raped her, police said.
The most recent incidents took place on April 11, when the suspect apparently struck twice. At 8 a.m. he met a 19-year-old woman near the intersection of Remsen Avenue and Farragut Road and lured her to the driveway of a private home before raping her.
Later that day he allegedly attacked a 15-year-old girl in a building near Midwood Street and Schenectady Avenue.
Brooklyn residents want the suspect off the streets as quickly as possible, and one woman told CBS 2’s Steve Langford that she was recently followed by a man in Canarsie.
“I live right there, so I ran like a madman to cross the street trying to get inside the house,” she said.
The suspect has been described as a black male in his 20s, he is 5’9″ and weighs between 160 and 180 lbs. He was seen wearing a green camouflage jacket, pants, boots, and a baseball cap that may have had a Knicks or Yankees logo on it. He may be offering women marijuana in order to get them to go to a secluded location.
Police are asking anybody with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
