Police: Kids Tried To Rob Woman In Central Park

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for two young kids who allegedly tried to rob a 38-year-old woman in Central Park earlier this week.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Monday near Fifth Avenue and East 107th Street in Central Park.

A girl, who is believed to be between 12 and 14 years old, first went up to the victim and demanded her cell phone, police said. The victim refused and a boy, believed to be about 11 years old, then tried to snatch the victim's pocketbook, police said.

The victim managed to fight the suspects off, police said. No injuries were reported.

The girl is about 4-feet-10-inches tall and was last seen wearing a black jacket with a red hood and had a braided pony tail, police said.

The boy is approximately 4-feet-5-inches tall and was last seen wearing a beige striped fleece.

Police are also looking to speak with a 14-year-old girl who was seen with the suspects after the incident.
