Staten Island Nanny Caught On Video Pleads Guilty To Endangering Welfare Of A Child

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A nanny caught on camera smacking a 5-month-old has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.

Namura Nasirova will face 10 months behind bars at sentencing June 14. Nasirova, 52, may also be deported to her native Uzbekistan, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

Sabrina Mardakhaev was shown in the video being struck in the face three times.

The video, taken by Sabrina's parents, showed the 5-month-old girl in a seat on the floor in the Woodlawn Avenue home, being fed from a bottle. An older child is sitting nearby on the couch.

With the baby appearing to be reluctant to take the bottle, Nasirova slapped Sabrina with an open hand to the face. She then allegedly shook the child's face.

And after about a minute of feeding time, Nasirova is seen picking up the child with a jolt.

The parents had set up a surveillance camera inside a carbon-monoxide detector.

A law enforcement source said additional surveillance footage showed "horrific" and "unsettling" scenes of Nasirova "hurling these defenseless children around like rag dolls."
