Report: Teen Shot Dead A Block From High School In Newark

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A teenager in Newark was killed Wednesday in a drive-by shooting about a block from the high school he attended, according to a published report.

The 18-year-old student was shot dead during the 2 p.m. hour in the 200 block of Aldine Street, about a block from Weequahic High School where he was a senior, according to a Star-Ledger report.

Witnesses said a vehicle pulled up to the student and someone inside got out, looked at the victim, and opened fire, the newspaper reported.

The suspects then sped off, the paper reported.

The student had signed himself out of school about 20 minutes earlier saying he didn't feel well, and had left, the newspaper reported.
