Bridal Gowns New And Used Up For Sale To Fight Cancer

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The busy summer wedding season is just about here, and on Sunday, brides-to-be were getting a bargain on gowns while also helping the fight against cancer.

As WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported, the Bridges Against Breast Cancer nationwide tour rolled back into New York Sunday with something for every bride to be.

Bridal Gowns New And Used Up For Sale To Fight Cancer

"We have nearly a thousand gowns with us here in New York City, so we're really excited about that," said Amy Paulishak of Brides Against Breast Cancer. "We have all styles, price points from $75 up to about $3,900."

Paulishak said about half the dresses are brand new, while others were donated by brides committed to the fight against cancer.

"I get married, I donate that gown, that goes to another bride who potentially might re-donate it," Paulishak said.

The traveling show hits 120 cities this year, in hopes of raising $3 million. Brides may buy or donate on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m., at the West Side Jewish Center, at 347 W. 34th St. between Eighth and Ninth avenues.
