NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — From humble beginnings to superstar heights, Cher has been entertaining audiences for decades. Today the talented performer turned 67.

To celebrate, fans in New York reflected on the star’s earliest successes and the lasting impression that she made on pop-culture. Among the many things that Cher is famous for is a catalog of songs that have all become sing along favorites, but it isn’t just her music that the fans love.

In 1987 Cher made a splash on the big screen in the movie “Moonstruck.” She won an Oscar for best actress, playing the role of Loretta Castorini.

“It was just the best experience I had, making a movie with the greatest people,” she said.

On Monday a grateful Cher thanked her fans on Twitter for all of the love and support that they have given her over the years.
