NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — It isn’t Memorial Day yet but many stores have already slashed prices ahead of the big weekend.
The question is, is it better to buy now, or wait?
William Sonoma, The Gap, Coldwater Creek, and Banana Republic were all holding pre-Memorial Day sales on Monday. Avid shoppers told CBS 2’s Christine Sloan that it was well worth it to take advantage of the early bargains.
“I think it’s part of their better discounts, usually 30 percent off,” said Westfield, N.J. resident Lisa Bleich.
Stores like Banana Republic were offering up to 40 percent off on certain products, and experts told CBS 2 that the current available deals may be better than the sales on Memorial Day.
Big discounts were already available on summer clothing, but for other products consumers would have to wait. Home Depot was to be putting out a circular with discounts on select grills later in the week.
Many privately owned stores were to wait until the weekend to launch their sales, but most national chains were putting out special circulars in the middle of the week.
