The Identity Of The Victim Has Not Been Released

RAMSEY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Authorities are investigating a fatal fire in Ramsey.

Police were called to a home on Talina Court shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the blaze had spread to the roof in the back and the home was engulfed in smoke, CBS 2 reported.

Crews discovered a woman on a couch in the living room, officials said.

The victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y. where she was pronounced dead.

Firefighters were able to save her dog, CBS 2 reported.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
