Paterson Woman Recovering From Stray Bullet Wound

PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) - An 18-year-old Paterson woman was struck and wounded by a stray bullet as she walked with two family members and a small child, according to officials.

The woman, whose name was not disclosed, was near the corner of Arch and North Main streets when the shots rang out just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday. She was struck in the left hip and remained hospitalized Sunday in stable condition with a non life-threatening gunshot wound.

Authorities do not believe the woman was the target of the gunfire, but they have not yet determined what sparked the shooting.

No other injuries were reported.
