Police: Three Children Struck By SUV In Huntington Station

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County police are investigating a crash that left a child seriously injured in Huntington Station on Saturday.

Ralph Williams, 49, of Westbury was making a turn onto New York Ave at Academy Place when he struck three children in a cross walk, according to authorities.

Dorothy Blue, 35, of Medford was helping her children to cross the street when they were slammed into by Williams' 2003 Trailblazer, according to a police report.

A 3-year-old girl suffered a lacerated finger, an 11-year-old girl suffered a minor head injury, and 6-year-old boy was hospitalized with a serious head injury, authorities said.

The boy was taken to Huntington Hospital, and was awaiting a transfer to Schneider Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park on Saturday night.

Williams was uninjured and remained at the scene of the crash, his vehicle was impounded for a safety check, the investigation remains open.
