Rangers Acquire Defenseman Syvret From Flyers For Newbury

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The New York Rangers completed a minor deal one day after the NHL Draft. On Monday evening, the Rangers dealt forward Kris Newbury to the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Danny Syvret.

Syvret, 28, spent the entire 2012-13 season in the AHL and scored 40 points in 76 games for the Adirondack Phantoms. 31-year-old Newbury has played 24 games for the Rangers over the past three seasons, totaling two points.

The move was announced on the Flyers' website and the Rangers later confirmed the trade via Twitter.

This is the second defenseman acquired in the past two days. The Rangers traded forward Benn Ferriero and a 2014 sixth round pick for defenseman Justin Falk from the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
