Sree's Tips: Patriotic Apps For The Fourth Of July

Sree Sreenivasan, tech expert from our partner network CNet and Columbia University's Chief digital officer, reported on fun, patriotic apps and New York City's top Foursquare spots for the Fourth.
1. Declaration for iPhone/iPad & US Constitution for Android
This is actually two free apps, Declaration for iOS and US Constitution for Android teach you history, give you context and much more. It's a way to read the Declaration and learn about the writers.
2. Musical Fireworks 2, iPhone/iPad, free
Keep your kids busy for a long, long time. This is a fun app that let's you make your own virtual fireworks show on iPad or iPhone. Similar apps are available on Android.
3. Instagram, iPhone, free; Tout, Android/iPhone, free
You need to download an updated version of Instagram, but it now offers 15-second bursts of video you can share. Professional photographer Greg Lord said if it there were ever a time to try out the new Instagram video capability it is the fireworks tonight. If you don't have an iPhone (or even if you do), try Tout, which also offers 15-second videos.
Sree asked Foursquare about the most popular NYC destinations on the Fourth of July. No surprise here -- the top restaurant check-ins were at hot dog joints, burger joints, and ice cream shops.
