Cops: Pregnant Woman Struck By Stray Bullet In Bridgeport Shooting

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -- Bridgeport police say a stray bullet fired in a downtown shooting early Thursday struck a 24-year-old pregnant woman in the neck.

Police spokesman William Kaempffer tells the Connecticut Post that authorities do not believe the unidentified woman's injuries are life-threatening or that her pregnancy was affected.

It was not clear how far the shooter was from her. Her age and stage of her pregnancy were not immediately available.

Police did not believe the woman was the intended target of the shooting, though investigators have not yet determined who the shooter meant to hit.

The investigation is continuing.
