2 City Correction Officers Arrested Within 2 Minutes

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two city correction officers were arrested within a period of two minutes Sunday and charged with driving drunk.

One of the officers was involved in some kind of accident, while the other was also hit with weapons charges.

The first incident happened at 4:36 a.m. in the 90th Precinct, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

Officer Waldy Montalvo, 38, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, criminal possession of a weapon, and menacing.

Police did not release details of the charges.

The second arrest happened two minutes later, but a long distance away in the 45th Precinct in the northeast Bronx.

Officer Alex Lopez was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving with ability impaired, police said.

No details about the accident were available late Sunday afternoon.
