Nassau County Public Pool Hours Extended As Steamy Conditions Stick Around

MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - Extra relief from the heat is being offered to Nassau County residents.

The county's public pools will be open an additional two hours on Monday - until 8 p.m. - to help residents combat another day with hot and humid conditions.

"We have record-breaking attendance at our pools. Wantagh this weekend had the highest attendance ever, so there's a great demand for them," Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano told reporters including WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs. "We're happy that our pools are in good shape, they're open, they're there for the comfort of our residents."
