Black Bear Spotted Running Through Yards In Peekskill
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A Westchester County neighborhood was on alert Tuesday, after a bear spent the morning running through the streets.
The small black bear was found running through yards near Depew Park in Peekskill, police said.
Patrick Somma told CBS 2 the bear ran through his backyard during the midday hours. He said he also saw the bear Monday night as police tried to catch up with it in downtown Peekskill.
Police eventually coaxed the bear back into the woods around noon.
Residents have been urged to cover their garbage, and to stay away from the bear if they see it.
