NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Let’s just say Jordany Valdespin didn’t handle his demotion very well.

The utility man snapped after learning he was being sent down to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday, calling Mets manager Terry Collins a “c–ks—er” during a fiery confrontation, according to the New York Post.

Valdespin, who by all accounts is healthy, “demanded” instead to be put on the disabled list, the Post reported.

Order was restored before reporters made their way into Pittsburgh’s visitors clubhouse, though the 25-year-old still “had tears in his eyes,” the paper added.

Valdespin was batting .188 with four home runs and 16 RBIs before the demotion.

He’s had his issues with the Mets — or rather, with his teammates. Valdespin irked the clubhouse when he violated the team’s dress code during his rookie year in 2012 and was embroiled in a hit-by-pitch controversy earlier this season when the Mets failed to back him up after being plunked by the Pirates.

“I’m not telling you he’s the most popular guy in the clubhouse,” Mets general manager Sandy Alderson told WFAN radio in May. “That would be misleading.”
