New York’s Bravest Honored At Firefighter Appreciation Weekend Events
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — It was a spectacle on the Hudson on Saturday afternoon. The FDNY held the 12th annual blessing of its Marine Fleet at the Intrepid Sea, Air, And Space Museum.
The fleet consists of more than twenty vessels that are responsible for more than 650-miles of coastline and harbors. The blessing was followed by a ‘battle of the boroughs’ cook-off that pitted fire houses from across the city against each other in an effort to slice, dice, and BBQ, their way to victory.
The West Side celebration was part of Firefighter Appreciation Weekend, a weekend dedicated to honoring New York’s Bravest.
