NEW YORK (AP)— Officers from the Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau have rescued two men from a sinking boat in the Long Island Sound.
The officers heard a distress call at about 12:45 p.m. Sunday and located the boat, a 16-foot Bayliner.
The boat was half-submerged and was about one and a half miles off shore near Port Jefferson.
The officers brought the two men on board their vessel and towed the sinking boat to shore.
Police say the two men were wearing life jackets.
