NYC Reporter Becomes Internet Sensation During Weiner Press Conference

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There's a new character in the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal -- and it's not Carlos Danger.

Meet "Cubicle Guy." He was born on Twitter during Weiner's press conference on Tuesday.

As the apologetic mayoral candidate explained the details behind his latest flub, one face could clearly be seen awkwardly emerging behind Weiner and his wife as he watched the press conference from behind a cubicle.

The man dubbed "cubicle guy"  is Jeff McKinney, who was a long-time reporter and anchor for a CBS radio affiliate in Minnesota, who now works as a reporter at WOR in New York.

"I didn't realize I was becoming famous as I stood there, taking notes and doing whatever I was doing," McKinney said in an interview with WCCO.

"I had a couple of people – past colleagues from Chicago and some guys here in New York – say I'm on Twitter, but I had no idea that…what do you say?…I was going viral on Twitter."
