HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Police on Long Island are urging public awareness after a rash of robberies in Nassau County.

Police said there have been at least four robberies in less than two hours in three different communities. They happened last Friday and Saturday in Bethpage, Plainview and Hicksville, police said.

In each case, two or three suspects steal cell phones, backpacks and cash from victims, police said. At least one of the suspects also pulls out a gun during the robberies, according to police.

Investigators said they believe the robberies were all carried out by the same group of suspects. Police described them as black or Hispanic males who were seen getting into a dark-colored, four door sedan.

No injuries were reported.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
