A Classic Conversation With Shirley Jones On The Couch

NEW YORK (WLNY) -- Shirley Jones, known to many as "Marian The Librarian" from the classic film, "The Music Man," visited The Couch to talk about her new book and upcoming role in "The Music Man" show.

Next year Jones will tour with a stage show celebrating the 50thanniversary of the movie musical.

The tour will feature Broadway singers and dancers, Jones' stories, film clips, a big brass band on stage and live production numbers. Patrick Cassidy, Jones' real life son, will star in the show in his role as "Harold Hill."

Jones said she was pregnant with Patrick Cassidy during the filming of "The Music Man."

"The footbridge scene, which was the only kiss we had, Patrick decided to kick," Jones said.

Jones will play a different part in the musical this time.  In addition to hosting the tour, she will play "Mrs. Paroo," who is the mother of "Marian The Librarian."

Cassidy and Jones will share the stage for the first time since starring together in "42nd Street" on Broadway.
