Victor Cruz: Hakeem Nicks Is Giants' 'No. 1 Wideout'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz believes that teammate Hakeem Nicks is the No. 1 receiving option in the Giants' offense.

"I think the No. 1 wideout is Nicks," Cruz said on NFL Network's "NFL AM" on Monday. "I mean, he's been here longer, he understands this offense. He's our big-play guy, he's on the outside. So I definitely think he's our No. 1 receiver, there's no doubt about it."

Nicks, whose contract with Big Blue expires at the end of the year, started in 11 games last season and caught three touchdown passes. The 6-foot-1 receiver missed training camp on Sunday with tightness in his groin, but Eli Manning and the Giants' offense are heavily relying on the receiving duo of Nicks and Cruz to give opposing defenses headaches.

Cruz wants to see Nicks return to the Giants after this season, but also wants to see all wide receivers get bigger contracts from their respective teams.

"I do think we've been undervalued; I think it definitely signifies a change in the game," Cruz said. "... I think the numbers are the numbers, and they have to be scaled according to the tops in the league, no matter where you line up on the field."
